Amadeus only uses sustainable materials in all jewellery.
Most of our jewellery is made in vermeil - recycled sterling silver dipped in at least 2 microns of recycled gold. This is five times thicker than average gold plating and more durable.
Some of our chains and thicker earrings are made in gold dipped brass with at least 2 micron thickness of solid recycled gold. We also add a layer of anti-tarnish to further improve durability. The reason we chose to use brass instead of silver in some pieces is because is it a very sustainable material and to keep the price point at an affordable level. Our brass is 100% nickel-free and cadmium-free.
We now only use rre-loved gemstones purchased second hand and then cut to size in our studio. The reason we opted to do this is that sourcing ethical stones is difficult, in part because there are no established bodies tracing gemstones from mine to market.
Eco Sea pearls
We hand-pick our own pearls in a sea pearl farm based in the Philippines. The farm is located in a small fishing village where we have invested with other governmental Eco organizations to ensure the farming of the pearl does not damage the sea levels or disturb the marine habitat.
