Our Materials

Amadeus was founded on the belief that fine jewellery should not only look beautiful, but feel right. Each piece is designed to live with you — on your best days and your busiest ones alike.

We’re committed to making a positive impact on both people and the planet by rethinking how jewellery is designed and produced. Our collections are released in limited quantities, and we only make more based on demand. This thoughtful approach helps reduce waste while keeping our designs fresh, considered, and dynamic.

Gold Vermeil

Most of our jewellery is crafted in gold vermeil: recycled sterling silver coated in recycled 18-carat gold. Unlike standard gold-plated jewellery, our vermeil exceeds industry standards, featuring a 2.5-micron layer of gold — five times thicker than the industry minimum of 0.5 microns — for exceptional durability and lasting beauty.

Gold Brass

Some of our chains and thicker earrings are made in gold dipped discarded brass with at least 2 micron thickness of solid recycled gold. We also add a layer of anti-tarnish to further improve durability. The reason we chose to use brass instead of silver in some pieces is to keep the price point at an affordable level. Our brass is 100% nickel-free and cadmium-free.

Natural Gemstones & Pearls

We work exclusively with pre-loved gemstones and sea pearls, sourced second-hand and then cut to size in our studio. We made this decision because sourcing truly ethical gemstones is extremely difficult, partly due to the lack of established bodies that can trace stones from mine to market. By using vintage gemstones in our sustainable jewellery, we avoid new mining altogether—an industry that is highly damaging to the planet.
